End of the Year Recap : 2022 Reflection

End of the Year Recap : 2022 Reflection

We became a family of 3 right at the beginning of 2022, & ever since, it’s been a whirlwind! We *finally* started building our backyard art studio the day we came home from the hospital (after 2 years of permitting issues), so I had to improvise & create smaller sized artwork & accessories out of our dining room, mainly during the baby’s nap time.

While it was an amazing year filled with many wonderful moments - it was also a hard, exhausting year. I didn’t hit many of my goals, nor did I create nearly as much artwork as I had hoped. However, I shipped out over 300 packages all by myself, created new products that will launch in 2023, & worked with amazing clients & interior designers.

I’ve learned this year to slow down, to savor the moments with my family, & to create more intentionally. It may not have been my biggest growth year business-wise, but it was a year I will always cherish. Thank you so much for following along, supporting my small business, & every kind word - I am forever grateful!

Here’s to a fresh beginning in 2023!

Favorites from the Studio in 2022:

  • Favorite pieces from each collection I created:

    • The Abstract Landscape Series:

      • I somehow managed to paint a small abstract landscape series during my first month of maternity leave. These colorful pieces flew off the shelves within minutes, and I was blown away by the response!

    • The Nature Morte Series:

      • I launched an abstract still life series that I painted from life in my new studio. I love these colorful pieces and how many of my collectors have styled them. Collect yours here!

    • The Block Print Series:

      • The Block Print Series was one of the most enjoyable collections I’ve made to date. I wanted to change up my medium and decided to create a medley of colorful block prints based on things that bring me back to my upbringing in Louisiana. Oysters, martinis, and chinoiserie plates were the subjects, and I absolutely love each piece created.

  • This block print was the most favorited among collectors:

  • The most favorite Instagram post featuring my artwork: I’m not sure if this received the number of likes because of the baby or because of the art!

  • A favorite piece I created *just for fun*: My husband and I went to Hawaii prior to having our baby and I was so inspired by the florals, that I had to create this piece that was inspired by my best friend’s wedding.

  • A favorite pinch-me moment:

    • Framebridge reached out to me about doing a collaboration — and they sent out an email to their 1 million email subscribers featuring my artwork! So many new collectors found me through their outreach, and I am forever grateful for their collaboration & feature!

Reflecting on 2022 & Planning for 2023

Goal Reflecting & Setting:

  1. Goals that I set and met:

    • After 2 years of not meeting this goal, we finally finished our studio build!

    • I launched my first line of paper products (chinoiserie milestone cards!)

    • While it was incredibly difficult raising a baby and not having much help, I was able to launch 3 original series, which was a lofty goal for me.

  2. Goals that I didn’t particularly meet:

    • I planned to paint much larger in 2022, but because our studio was still under construction, we are yet again bumping this goal to 2023!

    • I did not teach an online course; however, I’ve made plans to teach an in-person workshop this May and can’t wait to tell you more soon!

  3. Goals that I hope to achieve in 2023:

    • I plan to expand my brand into more accessories (stay tuned for a fun offering closer to the holidays!)

    • I have always had intentions of teaching, and I’m hopeful 2023 will be the year I can finally execute an online course!

    • I hope to work with more interior designers and to photograph my work in beautiful homes to give my clientele more examples of how my work can be styled.
