Nursery Design Inspiration

Ariel Okin’s home nursery served as a huge inspiration for me. I love how she combined family heirlooms with current baby books and toys.

Choosing a Color Palette:

Designing our baby girl’s nursery has been such a fun experience for me. I wanted this small yet special space to feel well-loved and carefully curated, as, after all, I anticipate we will be spending a lot of quality time in here for the foreseeable future!

First and foremost, I wanted to select a soft, feminine palette. Because this is not our forever home, I refrained from wallpapering the room with the intention that most likely the room won’t remain a girl’s nursery/bedroom forever. However, I found an adorable blush pink peel-and-stick wallpaper made by Magnolia Home that I instantly knew had to adorn the room.

Picking Investment Pieces:

My mom instilled in me that large pieces of furniture should be investment pieces & not to settle on temporary filler pieces. I found a beautiful Thomasville Faux Bamboo dresser on Chairish that I have refurbished (don’t worry, I’ll showcase the before and after in an upcoming post!), and I chose a glider chair that we intend on using both for years to come. Items like a high-performance rug are essential, but not worth splurging on with the undeniable messes to occur.

Baby Basics:

What We Are Reading:

  • This book & this book have both been so helpful with planning for our first baby & easing the anxiety of what to expect!

What We Are Eating:

  • We are all about easy, breezy meals in our house at the moment. This recipe is not only healthy, but it’s filling and great to freeze!

What We Are Watching:

  • I’m loving this show based on three strangers who are fascinated by a true-crime podcast and believe that a murderer lives in their apartment building.
