Blush Baby Girl Nursery Reveal

Blush Baby Girl Nursery Reveal

The Design Process:

When Will and I found out we were having a baby girl, I was in complete disbelief. I was certain we were having a baby boy and visualized exactly how I was going to design the room. Obviously, we were ecstatic to welcome a baby girl, but I had to go to the drawing board on how I wanted her nursery to look and feel.

I initially didn’t want the room to be your typical ‘pink’ nursery, but I honestly had a lot of difficulty sourcing fabric that wasn’t fru-fru & cheap-looking (when the fabrics indeed weren’t cheap!). I first started with the bigger items that I knew would be in her big girl room or hopefully our next nursery, & I wanted to ensure that they would be transitional in any situation. We purchased a vintage bamboo dresser & painted it in high-gloss Sherwin Williams Shagreen and changed out the knobs for these modern, acrylic drawer pulls.

Because we don’t intend on this being our forever home, I didn’t want this room to be a huge investment, but I still wanted to make it a special, comfortable haven as it would be a space we’d be spending a lot of our foreseeable future in after all. I found beautiful stick-on wallpaper that had the look and feel of real wallpaper, and from there, all of the puzzle pieces came together!

This room has limited space, so I knew storage and wall space needed to be utilized wherever possible. I purchased these adorable & affordable shelves and adorned them with artwork by one of my favorite artists, Alexis Walter, and family heirlooms. Underneath, I stored our favorite baby books and toys in these functional stacking baskets.

Maximizing Space in a Little Room

Maximizing the space on the dresser was crucial in my planning. I loved this acrylic diaper unit so I wouldn’t have to constantly be opening drawers during diaper changes & put all of our most used & loved diaper products on top (like this favorite must-have baby set). I framed our favorite photos in acrylic frames and easels and opted for this inexpensive floor lamp so it was one less thing I risked knocking over!

Above the dresser is a mirror that I can’t rave about enough. It is much lighter than it appears & so versatile - I could envision it being a beautiful piece in a powder bath or entryway. Next to the mirror are two vintage framed pieces that were purchased from my great-aunt (and namesake!) in Paris on her honeymoon in the early 1900s. Will thinks they are a bit creepy, but I had them in my room growing up and felt that these would be special mementos in her room as well.

Diaper Changing Station Essentials:

I wish I could tell you the source of my crib and chair, but both were hand-me-downs from my sweet sister-in-law; however, I’ve put together a few of my favorite cribs and gliders below, that I think are very similar in appearance. I had someone locally make the small chair pillow, & I found a very similar design here for a great price.
